Bay Area playwright and all-around awesome guy Octavio Solis is interviewed on Adam Szymkowicz’s blog. It’s interview #372, by the way. That’s a lot of playwrights.
From the interview:
Don’t wait to be discovered. Don’t wait for some champion to come along and produce your work. Do it yourself. Make it happen. Define your terms and go. That way, you own your art and make your own mistakes and learn all the facets of theatre-making. From the ticket booth to cleaning the toilets to working with the actors: apply yourself to it. You’ll either trust yourself in this or you won’t.
Read the whole thing here, where you’ll discover he’s working on five(!) plays at the moment.
