Turning Central Market Into An Arts Hub

If you’re an artistic director of an itinerant theater company (that’s you, Tore), you might want to go to this meeting next Monday.

The City is trying to turn Market Street just past Powell into a “dynamic new arts district.” Note the magic words “grant opportunities” in the official statement:

Please join representatives from nonprofit organizations and City departments to learn about the latest coordinated developments in the citywide effort to develop Central Market Street into a dynamic new arts district. Learn about long- and short-term opportunities for your organization including capacity and architectural feasibility studies, grant opportunities, Art in Storefronts, and an October conference on establishing arts-based spaces.

WHEN: Monday, September 27, 2010; 4-5:30 pm
WHERE: New Conservatory Theater: 25 Van Ness Avenue (lower level)

Space is limited so RSVP here.
