Assuming, of course, that you live in the Bay Area and have access to KQED. This show always introduces me to stuff I’ve never heard of or only barely know about. Like this week: I learned about Gang Situ, who is integrating Eastern and Western art into an opera that somehow combines Mozart’s Don Giovanni and 13th century Chinese performance. And a group in Oakland called headRush doing cool guerilla-style political theater in a way that combines a 1960’s “confront the audience” kind of thing with a completely modern, hip hop sensibility. Not every show is about performance — they cover all kinds of art, from music to visual — but you’re a well-rounded theatre geek, aren’t you?
